Special Education and Alternative Education
The Community Service Foundation (CSF), in association with Buxmont Academy, operates eight day treatment/alternative/special education school programs. Since 1977 CSF has been helping troubled young people referred by juvenile courts, children and youth agencies, drug and alcohol commissions and school districts in eastern Pennsylvania.

We accept male and female students, grades 712, in regular and special education, who:
- Are truant or have been suspended or expelled
- Exhibit aggressive, impulsive or disruptive behavior
- Have learning difficulties
- Have mental health or self-esteem issues
- Are involved in the juvenile justice system
- Abuse drugs or alcohol
- Have family problems or have suffered physical, emotional or sexual abuse
What is different about us:
- Students thrive, making real, lasting changes that turn their lives around.
- We have a rapid admissions process. Students can start within a few days of referral.
- We build community. Through positive peer pressure, youth help each other with their behavior.
- We work cooperatively with parents, probation officers, caseworkers and others.
We offer:
- Alternative education for disruptive youth, as per Pennsylvania Act 48
- 45-day emergency student placements
- Special Education IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) for socially and emotionally disturbed students
- Individualized learning, including academic, computer, music and art classes
- Three decades of expertise and success with the toughest kids from both urban and rural settings
- High program completion rates 70% of youth complete our program successfully
- Youth show significant increases in social values and self-esteem, as demonstrated by research results
- Reasonable tuition rates
